About Me

Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and a Researcher Affiliate with the Center for Social Science Innovation at the University of Iowa. I received my PhD from the Department of Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2024, my M.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2021, and my B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of Michigan in 2019.

My research focuses on American polits, with a particular emphasis on congressional elections, legislative behavior, and political communication. I study how electoral incentives shape the priorities and positions congressional candidates communicate during campaigns, whether campaign commitments subsequently structure members’ behavior in Congress, and how voters respond to these messages. Across my research agenda, I develop and apply advanced quantitative methods with a focus on computational text analysis. My research has been published or is forthcoming in outlets including the American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, Political Science Research and Methods, and Political Behavior.
